چکیده

The art of visual tracking has been widely studied in the past decades [6]. While most of researches focus on exploring new methods to represent object appearance, little attention has been paid on the description of object motion. In this paper we propose a novel motion model for visual tracking, and in comparison with previous methods, it can better parameterize instantaneous image motion caused by both object and camera movements. Our approach is inspired by the subspace theory of image motion, that is, for a rigid object imaged by a projective camera, the displacements matrix of its trajectories over a short period of time should approximately lie in a low-dimensional subspace with a certain rank upper bound [2, 5]. We adopt this subspace as the state transition space in particle filtering (PF) [3]. This differs from affine model in two ways: first, the dimension number as well as the sampling weight for each dimension at each moment can be determined by the rank of the subspace automatically; second, the subspace motion model can naturally represent the disparity brought by object or camera rotation. We will show that when compared with the affine model, the subspace motion model is superior in accuracy. Figure 1 illustrates the procedures of our method. To estimate the motion model, some 2D feature points of the object are first tracked by the standard KLT approach [4]. Assuming that k successive frames have been tracked before the current frame It , then the displacements matrix can be built as:

Spatio-Temporal Auxiliary Particle Filtering With ℓ1-Norm-Based Appearance Model Learning for Robust Visual Tracking

In this paper, we propose an efficient and accurate visual tracker equipped with a new particle filtering algorithm and robust subspace learning-based appearance model. The proposed visual tracker avoids drifting problems caused by abrupt motion changes and severe appearance variations that are well-known difficulties in visual tracking. The proposed algorithm is based on a type of auxiliary pa...

Visual Tracking Using Multimodal Particle Filter

Visual tracking of humans or objects in motion is a challenging problem when observed data undergo appearance changes (e.g., due to illumination variations, occlusion, cluttered background, etc.). Moreover, tracking systems are usually initialized with predefined target templates, or trained beforehand using known datasets. Hence, they are not always efficient to detect and track objects whose ...

Monocular 3D Human Motion Tracking Using Dynamic Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis

We propose a new statistical approach to human motion modeling and tracking that utilizes probabilistic latent semantic (PLSA) models to describe the mapping of image features to 3D human pose estimates. PLSA has been successfully used to model the co-occurrence of dyadic data on problems such as image annotation where image features are mapped to word categories via latent variable semantics. ...

Multiple Target Tracking With a 2-D Radar Using the JPDAF Algorithm and Combined Motion Model

Multiple target tracking (MTT) is taken into account as one of the most important topics in tracking targets with radars. In this paper, the MTT problem is used for estimating the position of multiple targets when a 2-D radar is employed to gather measurements. To do so, the Joint Probabilistic Data Association Filter (JPDAF) approach is applied to tracking the position of multiple targets. To ...
